Flooring Installation by Great Choice Builders in Rothesay, NB

About our flooring installation

A floor is only as good as what's under it. A lot of the floor failures we get called to fix are prep problems — a subfloor that wasn't flat, moisture that wasn't addressed, or the wrong underlay for the product on top. We spend the time on the subfloor so the finished floor doesn't squeak, cup, or gap.

We install hardwood, engineered wood, laminate, vinyl plank, tile, and stone. Whole house or single room. Flooring is also usually part of our kitchen and bathroom jobs — it's the same crew.

What a flooring job usually includes

  • Removing the existing flooring — tile, carpet, laminate
  • Subfloor inspection, levelling, and repair
  • Moisture barriers and underlay, matched to the product
  • Hardwood, engineered, laminate, or vinyl plank install
  • Tile and stone install with proper setting materials
  • Transitions, thresholds, and trim
  • Baseboard removal and reinstall, or new baseboard
  • Final finish and walkthrough

How a flooring job goes

  1. 01

    Site visit

I measure the space, check the subfloor where I can, and talk through what product makes sense for the room. Basements, kitchens, and bathrooms each call for different things.

  2. 02

    Quote

Itemized quote covering removal, subfloor prep, product, install, and trim.

  3. 03

    Subfloor prep

This is where a lot of installers cut corners. We don't. If the subfloor needs levelling, it gets levelled. If there's a moisture issue, it gets addressed before the new floor goes down.

  4. 04

    Install

Most rooms go in one to three days depending on size and product. Whole-house installs run longer and we coordinate with you on which rooms are offline when.

  5. 05

    Walkthrough

We check transitions, trim, and finish. If a board doesn't sit right or a tile is lippage, we fix it before signing off.

Questions we get asked

What flooring works best in a New Brunswick climate?+

Humidity swings from winter to summer are hard on solid hardwood unless the house has good humidity control. Engineered wood and luxury vinyl plank handle it better. For bathrooms and basements, tile or vinyl plank are the safer calls. We'll talk through the options on the site visit.

Do you install vinyl plank?+

Yes. LVP is a big part of what we install — it's durable, water-tolerant, and a good fit for kitchens, basements, and high-traffic areas. We still level the subfloor properly before it goes down.

Can you install over concrete?+

Yes — concrete needs moisture testing and the right underlay, which we handle. Some products go down directly; others need an engineered subfloor built first.

Do you do whole-house installs?+

Yes — whole-house and room-by-room. We coordinate the sequence so you can still use part of the house while work happens.

Do you serve areas outside of Rothesay?+

Yes — Quispamsis, Saint John, Hampton, Grand Bay-Westfield, and the Kennebecasis Valley.
