Bathroom Renovations by Great Choice Builders in Rothesay, NB

About our bathroom renovations

Bathrooms are unforgiving. Water goes where you don't want it, grout fails if the waterproofing underneath isn't right, and small tile mistakes show up in the first year. We take the time to build the layers below the tile so the finished bathroom lasts.

We do everything from a single vanity swap to a full gut — moving plumbing, converting a tub to a walk-in shower, adding heated floors, rebuilding the whole room. Andre runs the tile and waterproofing himself.

What a bathroom job usually includes

  • Demo and disposal
  • Framing changes — converting tubs to walk-ins, opening up the shower, moving walls
  • Plumbing rough-in, valve relocation, drain changes
  • Electrical for heated floors, vanity lighting, fans, outlets
  • Waterproofing — Schluter, Kerdi-board, liquid membrane — matched to the job
  • Tile — floor, walls, shower, niches, benches
  • Vanity and sink installation, custom or stock
  • Shower glass, doors, and enclosures
  • Heated floor installation under tile
  • Fixtures, lighting, accessories, and final seal

How a bathroom renovation goes

  1. 01

    Site visit

I come look at the space, check what's behind the walls where I can, and talk through what you want — bigger shower, heated floors, double vanity, different layout. No charge.

  2. 02

    Quote

Itemized quote in writing so you see labour, tile, fixtures, and any plumbing or electrical work as separate lines.

  3. 03

    Waterproofing first

This is the part people don't see and where bathrooms fail. We do it properly the first time. If you've got a failing shower now, there's a reason — we fix the cause, not just the surface.

  4. 04

    Build

Most bathrooms run two to four weeks on site. If it's your only bathroom, we sequence the work to keep downtime short.

  5. 05

    Walkthrough

We run water, check every seam, test the heat mat, check the exhaust fan. If anything's off, it gets fixed before we leave.

Questions we get asked

How much does a bathroom renovation cost?+

A refresh — new vanity, paint, fixtures — can be under $10,000. A full gut with tile shower, heated floors, and new plumbing in the greater Saint John area typically runs $20,000–$45,000 depending on size and materials.

Can you convert my tub into a walk-in shower?+

Yes — this is one of the most common jobs we do. Plan on a full gut of the tub area, new framing, plumbing changes, waterproofing, tile, and shower glass. Usually two to three weeks.

Do you install heated floors?+

Yes — heated floors under tile. We wire the thermostat, run the mat, embed it in the mortar bed, and tile over top. It's worth the cost if you're tiling the floor anyway.

What's your approach to waterproofing?+

We match the system to the job — Schluter Kerdi-board for most showers, liquid membrane where it makes sense, and proper pre-sloped shower pans. We do the waterproofing layer carefully because it's what keeps everything dry for the next 20 years.

Do you serve areas outside of Rothesay?+

Yes — Quispamsis, Saint John, Hampton, Grand Bay-Westfield, and the Kennebecasis Valley.
